Samantha Shoenhair, LPC

Hi, my name is Sam!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who works with children and teens aged 6 and up. I have spent the last ten years working in a variety of settings with youth such as residential care, outpatient services, and even a few years overseas working to support children in poverty. Most recently I have become passionate about working with children, teens, and families to support healing and growth. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where everyone can explore their experiences, gain new tools for themselves, repair relationships, and move towards sustained change. I specialize in working with at-risk youth (child welfare, juvenile delinquency, mental health hospitalizations/suicidality), trauma-related disorders, and anxiety-related disorders.

A typical session with me may look like “being a detective” to figure out why we do the behaviors we do or using art to work on expressing some of those really difficult feelings that can be hard to articulate! Sometimes sessions simply look like talking while engaging in play while other times they are quite interactive! I believe that feeling safe and relaxed while doing therapy is vital to making progress and having fun is a bonus!

With my extensive training, I can also offer specific therapy modalities such as: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Alternatives for Families Cognitive Behavioral Families (AF-CBT), Let’s Connect, Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Written Exposure Therapy (WET), Integrative Attachment Family Therapy (IAFT).

**I am currently seeing all clients remotely**
