I’m Chelsea Wages and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate. I graduated from Grand Canyon University in 2020 with a Master of Science in Professional Counseling with a focus on marriage and family therapy. I also have an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis on special education and early childhood development and an undergraduate degree in Psychology. I have been working in the Teller County community for 4 years. I work with children ages 4-17, young adults, parents, and families who may be experiencing a variety of concerns, including trauma processing, family conflict, anxiety, depression, life stress and transition, and self-esteem concerns. Additional specific areas of focus include parenting education and support, sibling relationships, and neurodivergent support needs for both children and adults.

I take a person-centered approach to care and believe my clients are the experts of their own stories. I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques, including Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Somatic experiencing.  I am also trained in LGBTQIA+ affirming behavioral health care. My goal is to help my clients increase their understanding and awareness for mind body connections and to help them increase their self-awareness and understanding of themselves while helping them to develop positive coping and communication skills necessary to better manage symptoms and improve their ability to positively connect with the world around them. My goal is that every client leaves feeling seen, heard, and accepted and able to experience an improved quality of life.
